Mission Statement

Young Credit Union Professionals was founded to encourage the voices of young professionals within the credit union movement.  Our mission is to recruit, develop and retain, young talented professionals within the industry by engaging them in education, advocacy and growth opportunities.  We are individuals committed to improving our communities, our credit unions and ourselves by embracing the credit union philosophy of “people helping people”. 

Suggested Organizations

TOASTMASTERS:

 

Most Toastmasters meetings are comprised of approximately 20 people who meet weekly for an hour or two. Participants practice and learn skills by filling a meeting role, ranging from giving a prepared speech or an impromptu one to serving as timer, evaluator or grammarian. 

CUES:

The Credit Union Executives Society (CUES®) is a Madison, Wisconsin-based, independent membership association for credit union executives worldwide. Its mission is to advance the professional development of credit union CEOs, senior management and directors. 

POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE:  

The Governmental Affairs team regularly organizes opportunities for credit union leaders to meet with state and federal elected officials. 

OREGON CHAPTERS:   

Oregon's seven (7) individual chapters each represent credit unions located within designated geographical boundaries. Chapters are associations of people who share common goals and objectives and work collectively to ensure the success of the Credit Union Movement.

 

Credit Union Workers' Association (CUWA):

 

The purpose of the Credit Union Workers’ Association (CUWA) is to assist its members in their personal and professional development within the credit union movement.

CUWA’s objectives:
- to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and information
- to provide an awareness of educational opportunities
- to provide support & recognition
- to serve as an inspiration for all women and men in the industry
- to support the safety & soundness of the credit union movement and the welfare of our communities

Membership is open to any credit union employee or credit union partner. Dinners with industry-related guest speakers are held throughout the Portland metro area every other month of the year.
