What should YCUP focus more on?
 

Mission Statement

Young Credit Union Professionals was founded to encourage the voices of young professionals within the credit union movement.  Our mission is to recruit, develop and retain, young talented professionals within the industry by engaging them in education, advocacy and growth opportunities.  We are individuals committed to improving our communities, our credit unions and ourselves by embracing the credit union philosophy of “people helping people”.

Why are board positions restricted to members age 40 and under?
The reason for this is to keep the direction of the organization in favor of the younger members of the credit union industry. We did not want to put in place an age restriction that would prevent any individual from benefiting from what YCUP has to offer. This is why YCUP is free to anyone who works or has worked for a credit union or CUSO. At the same time we needed a way to ensure that the organization would always maintain its focus on the Young Credit Union Professional.  In the end is was agreed that the best way to do this was to make board seats only available to members 40 and under.
 
Where are some areas I can help?

Awareness Campaign: One of the largest steps involved will be making people aware of the group and our site. In order for this to be successful we need everyone's help. If you know a member of the credit union industry that fits our parameters send them an invitation, give them a call, and/or bring them to the next event. Our strength is in our membership, the more young credit union professionals the better.

Updates/Reviews/Interviews: Are you good at writing? Do you like to interview people? Do you have a knack for reliving events via blogs? Then we need you! In order for this site to be a useful tool we need people interested in keeping it updated with new and relevant information. If you're interested send us an email and we will get you set up.

Events: We are always looking for new fun ways to get together and build relationships. If you know of an event or venue that you think would be fun let's get it listed. Send us an email and let's get started.
 
Who can join?

You must meet the following criteria to join a YCUP chapter:

  • Current or past employees of the Credit Union Industry (This includes CUSOs)
  • Professionals serious about their careers
  • Professionals serious about the credit union philosophy. 

*Professionals 40 and Under are eligible for board positions
 
What are the goals & objectives of YCUP?

Our goals are three fold and reflect in everything we do:

  1. Recruit, Develop, and Retain Young talent professionals into the credit union industry
  2. Promote the credit union philosophy of “people helping people”
  3. Create professional opportunities for those in the network
  4. Engage network members in their community
  5. Provide a voice for young professionals in the credit union industry
 
What does YCUP stand for?

YCUP is an abbreviation for Young Credit Union Professionals.
